Pianist Sandra Carey has been an active performer on national and international stages since 1990. She holds a Bachelor’s of Music from Wheaton College Conservatory and a Master’s of Music from the University of South Florida. She has studied with Mary Sauer, William Phemister, Robert Helps, and Averill Summer and completed Master Classes with Ja Ja Ling and Emmanuel Ax.
International competitor and winner of the Byrd Ensemble competition, Sandra has performed with members of the Chicago Symphony, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Symphony and the Vienna Opera House. Sandra appears on several artist series and concert events each year and was most recently featured with the Kairos String Quartet. A founding member of the Krizalido Piano Trio (formerly Woodford Piano Trio), she has enjoyed collaborating and touring with these great musicians to bring the message of hope and healing through music.
Sandra spent part of her early career as pianist for several Broadway productions, including Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Sunset Boulevard and A Chorus Line. In addition to performing, Sandra has served on faculty at the University of South Florida, Wheaton College and Columbia College Chicago.
Sandra's career has included performances and worship at churches, spiritual retreats and national conventions throughout the United States. She studied with organist June Harrison and recording artist Barbie Franklin, and produced an album of original and traditional arrangements of hymns and contemporary music. Sandra served as Director of Music and Worship for the ELCA church as liturgist and choral director for several years. She continues to provide special music and worship for congregations throughout the United States.
Alongside her love for music, Sandra holds a Master’s in Nutrition Education and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She serves as Director for the Center for Vitality and Balance and greatly enjoys the work with others in private practice. She is also an avid runner and finds great parallel between the discipline of being an athlete and the focused energy of a musician.
As music is her soul’s language, she is delighted to be a part of the Krizalido Piano Trio and to share with you the healing energy of sound.
